Quick & Convenient Exercise Options

30 Day Shred Workout DVD –

Three well-structured aero/tone interval workouts led by “The Biggest Loser” trainer. These fast-paced exercises will keep you burning fat as you sculpt muscle. The programs build in intensity; you can start with the intermediate level and work up to the advanced program (it’s tough! — moves like plyo-lunges and traveling pushups). Each workout has three “cycles.” Each cycle starts with three minutes of multi-muscle and isolated strength training. Then it’s two minutes of non-dancy kickbox and athletic-style cardio. That’s followed by one minute of classic abwork (then — no rest — you’ll immediately start a new cycle). Like on the TV show, Jillian is both demanding and supportive. Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells.

This DVD is great because it is a tough workout and only 20 minutes (27 with stretching). I highly recommend it.

Crunches on Exercise Ball –

This is a great way to work your abs and save your spine. When done correctly, it is quite effective.

Push ups –

Push ups are one of the best all around exercises that a person can do. They define the chest, shoulders, triceps, torso and abs. You can do push ups anywhere AND they are free! Try starting at 10 per set and work up to 25 per set.  Eventually, work torward 4 sets, 25 reps. you will see remarkable results!

There are multiple websites for variations on push ups to work different muscles in your arms, chest and shoulders.

Jumping Jacks or Jumping Rope-

Again……”FREE” and you can do it anywhere!

Most people do not realize how effective jumping rope or jumping jacks can be. Jump Rope or do jumping jacks in 2 minute intervals. Challenge yourself and increase those intervals. Great cardio workout!
Pull Ups –

Ok, so I can’t do them, BUT my husband swears by them and does them daily. And yeah, his arms look good.

Buy a pull up bar at Target and use it in your garage.

Run / Walk –

If you can’t tell, I am in to convenience and low cost when it comes to exercise. Everyone can walk and most can run.  Start out going around your block.  You don’t have to run the whole thing…….walk and run in intervals.  But the more you practice, the easier it will be and the farther you will travel.

For convenience…..as a business owner and a busy mom, I have to get really creative on how to “fit in” my workouts.  I wear my workout gear to all of their activities and practices. If I am lucky, I get to leave for 20 – 30 minutes and run………at the soccer fields or at the park near our church.  It has added 2-3 workout times to my week that I otherwise SAT and talked to the other moms or SAT in my vehicle and waited. Talk about making better use of my time!
